Bath is buzzing at this time of the year. As we get closer to Christmas the events listings grow and grow. What’s hot and what’s not? Fear not, let there be no FOMO (fear of missing out!) because the BBS team have picked their must see things to do in Bath at Christmas.
1 – Bath Christmas Market Nov 28th – Dec 15th
If British Vogue say their favourite Christmas Market is ours, then you’d better believe all the #BathChristmasMarket hype. That said, we’ve a glut of brilliant and diverse independent shops that makes our shopping offering here in Bath unique. Our advice; come for the market and explore further. 2 – Bath on Ice & Glow In The Dark Mini Golf 16th Nov – 6th Jan
Nestled inside Royal Victoria Park, Bath on Ice returns for some ice-skating magic. Central, insta-friendly, as well as family friendly, Bath on Ice grwos every year, making 2019 the biggest year yet. Open weekdays and weekends, booking is recommended for busy periods. Skater can also grab a drink and food, so make a day or night of it, or book a family party. There is also glow in the dark mini golf right next door too to ensure all the family are entertained. 10.30 til 10 pm daily (except Christmas day).
3 – Gift Wrapping at Milsom Place December dates to be confirmed
Head to Milsom Place for the feel-good factor. Get your gifts wrapped with specially designed Bath festive wrapping paper and pop some money in the box, for a yet to be named charity. Mums and dads earn a glass of wine whilst you are there at the fantastic Le Vignoble.
4 – Longleat Festival of Light from Nov 9th onwards, selected dates
A 45-minute drive from Bath is the famous home of Lord Bath and the Lions of Longleat. During the winter it’s now home to a very popular day or night-time spectacular. Enjoy a journey through the grounds lit with exotic lanterns transporting voyagers through space and time.
5 – Head to the theatre
If there is one time of the year to head to the theatre then Christmas is it. The Egg (children’s theatre) has festive shows for small people that are sure to delight. The main house at the Theatre Royal Bath presents its annual pantomime production running 12 December til January 12th with the usual mix of local talent and national celebrities.

The Bird has triumphed again with its venue space. During the summer this alfresco setting was a parasol covered sun trap, but it’s now a bauble-tastic tavern with a fire, fake snow scenes, and an extensive cocktail list. Head to Westonbirt, a short car drive, to Westonbirt Arboretum near Cirencester, but only go after dark if you want to enjoy their seasonal Enchanted Christmas Illumination Trail; a must see for all the family.
